GypSea Hotel

When giving an island tour yesterday to my houseguest, a first time visitor, we stopped to look at GypSea Hotel (formerly Villa Marie & Francois Plantation). It was late afternoon, but I photographed the dining menu for those who might be interested.

While the dining area is rather a small space — nothing like the elegance of Francois Plantation! — the booths & tables are attractive & look comfortable. The Hotel also has abandoned its policy of last season which required dinner reservations to be made 24 hours in advance, with only a fixed menu.

It’s still a lovely space & venue.

While we never loved the vibe there, I noticed there were profiteroles on the menu. Cheryl & I are in! Obviously we are easily bought when it comes to deserts. Years ago when Nikki Beach had profiteroles I would carry Cheryl over the water between Eden Rock and the other side. What we do for deserts.

Thanks for the menu info, Dennis! We have not been there in a few years, but always loved the location and the interior of the main building!

Yes, the interior is very nice . . . my houseguest likened it to a lovely dining room. Lunch at poolside also is very pleasant.

We did brunch poolside a few years ago with a friend, and it was a lot of fun. My friend was taking us out and paid the bill at the end of our day and we went on our way. A few weeks later I got a very nasty email from them telling me that we did not pay for our champagne (they had my information from the reservation.). Turns out they forgot to put it on the bill and my friend just paid what they put in front of us not really looking at what was on it and by this time she was off-island. Not really our fault! I paid them with a cc over the phone, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't been back.
