Continuation of trip J2

Well,we made it back home at 3:00 AM California time, which makes that 7:00 AM SBH time today (25 hours after waking up Monday) after 3 planes and a 2 hr + car ride from LAX. Flying over the vast expanse of the L A area, there were lots of lights on (good thing) and couldn’t see the flames (good thing), but there were parts with no lights (bad thing). Today is more danger from the winds up there today and we are hoping it won’t get too bad in our SD area but the red flags are up here and of course they may cut power at any time. People who can are evacuating to down here and we look forward to being of some help as we were helped in 2007 when it was our turn. Yesterday upon leaving, our wonderful manager at Le G. met us early to say “Au revoir” and mentioned how he admired how the Americans come together when there are emergencies, and I would extend that to all the North American continent, Canadians and Mexicans that I know, too..it is in our cultural DNA, but honestly, the hospitality with which I have been received in France in my life makes me think he has shortchanged his own homeland, which I mentioned. Travel is still the best education, people are not really all that different au fond from one another and want the same basic things out of life, and if you treat others nicely, not a whole lot more matters. May everyone treat each other nicely; really what else do we need?
Love to all those who make SBH the most special (and happiest) place on Earth🥰♥️🥂

Ok, let’s play Qu’est-ce que c’est? If you guessed the most exquisite raspberry croissant ever, you would be right! The pastry chef is a virtuoso and I have never even tasted anything like it. I will put in another, rather messy picture to show you the inside..I could cheat on my almond croissants every day with this one, but I’m not telling them..they would just get jealous, and I have enough problems with jealousy when certain pairs of shoes don’t make the trip, not to mention beach coverups..🤪🙄🙄View attachment 70181
Beautiful! Would you mind sharing where you enjoyed the "most exquisite raspberry croissant ever"? We are heading to St. Barth in a few weeks and G loves raspberry anythings. Maybe they are readily available throughout the island? I don't recall seeing such and we do love the almond croissants but this could be a new discovery for us. And, thank you for your trip reports and dining reviews! Glad you had safe travels home, too.

I believe that is the pastry chef at the Guanahani’s fine work, but DM will confirm.

Oh, that was at Le Guanahani breakfast at our restaurant there, The Beach House. The pastry chef is amazing and my husband is always on the hunt for the perfect tarte aux framboises, but no croissant like this has ever crossed my path, and I have a PhD in croissant eating😁. (Honestly , DD was not allowed to touch my raspberry croissants; I made him get his own..🤪). They don’t have the raspberry ones every day but getting perfect raspberries anywhere on SBH, on an island that basically grows nothing, seems to be a government position, since there was a perfect and delicious raspberry tarte at Eden to Go, across from the airport, which I highly recommend for everything take out. Bon appétit! Also, at the Sunday BBQ at Rosewood Le Guanahani Beach House restaurant on the beach, there was a pistachio raspberry tarte-like cake in the form of a Terrine. They serve you pieces of about 6 or 8 desserts, as much as you like! I liked! (Please help with the 2nd photo..could not make it smaller🙄🙄🙄 3FA82469-2426-4813-BF97-E65B9C2A94B2.jpeg

Thank you! I was guessing Le Guanahani but appreciate your confirmation and also thanks for the tip about Eden to Go - just looked at its menu... it shows Tarte Bourdaloue ... I wonder if that would be with pear and almond? Well, we will just have to find out!
Thanks again and for all of your wonderful reporting!

Anything that involves pear and almond, Tarte Bourdaloue, is a friend of mine! Please feel free to "research" and report back!!😋
