In trying to clean the home “memories closet“ . . . so many souvenirs, including much of St. Barths. I thought this menu is of interest for a look at restaurant pricing eight years ago.

Note that tipping even was an issue then.

Dennis, was that your eponymous pasta ?
Yes . . . it started one evening when I wasn’t feeling great. Maya said that she had just the right thing for me . . . it was Angel hair pasta, as I recall, done lightly with oil & fresh, chopped basil — with a pot of lemon tea, infused with brandy. I definitely felt better at leaving!

Oddly enough, Albert Balayn at La Gloriette used to also fix pasta for me if he detected that I needed TLC . . . his specialty for me was linguine in oil & garlic. No tea, but red wine was a good substitute.

Days of such special attention are limited now . . . though a few still exist. Definitely in the non-St. Tropez category!

A version a few years later is a bit slimmer and prix fixe. The prix fixe actually looks like a good value compared to the a la carte prices.
