End of May visit - Day 7 - Hate to Leave

Our last morning, we shook the sand off of what we could and packed up, then headed back to Lorient for a morning swim and stroll, our last chance to dip our feet in that beautiful clear water for awhile. We postponed the inevitable as long as we could, but finally headed up to the villa to clean up and say au revior.

Our return trip home was stressful and exhausting but we made it as planned (barely). Miami airport sucks, and I will leave it at that. Too much good on this trip to dwell on anything negative!

I said I wouldn't post a picture from Le Ti, but I thought this one was a good one to end on. Its a fitting summary of how St Barths makes us feel. The professional photographer snapped it impromptu, and while we knew we were being upsold, when we saw the pic we didn't care. I think our embrace in this pic says it all. We love the island, we love visiting, and we will be back!

Thanks to all of you for hanging in with my musings. I hope it wasn't exhausting, but I can tell you it was cathartic for me to write it all down. We're not having an easy time adjusting to life back at work (lets just say productivity is down a bit this week!), but we've got a great summer to look forward to up North and, at some point, we'll start to plan our next visit...

Sante!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading through all of these, it's all we have to go on when we're not on island! Certainly helps keep the cravings at bay, or intensifies them, I'm not sure which. We considered Tortue for our last visit but settled for a spot a bit up the hill, glad y'all found it nice, we will likely look there next time if it's just the two of us.

Being "powderfreaks" I'm assuming you live somewhere with good snow - where is home, and/or what is your home mountain?

Dave and Tracey…plan the return visit as fast as you can…it helps with the departure pains. Trust me.

Yes and no. We technically live near Chicago, but we don't tend to spend as much time there these days it seems (the winters suck). We have a place in Winter Park, Colorado. 2/3 of our children live in Boulder so we find ourselves migrating west and skiing quite a bit more nowadays, which is awesome. We love the mountains and the snow, and winter out west is SO much more tolerable than the upper midwest. But a getaway to St Barths is essential, even for us Powderfreaks :)

How about you? Are you Mountain people as well?

Not mountain people. St Barth our dream over 30 years.Lost our Long Island tolerance for winter and cold in the northeast...have lived here primarily for last 8 years.

We live in Texas but get up to Big Sky, MT, about 3 times a year, try to twice in the winter and once in the summer. If anyone from Big Sky is reading this, my apologies, but I refer to it as my home mountain even if we are a ways away. Tried to convince my wife we should move up there after I finished training...no dice! She doesn't take the cold as well as I do.

We too are fans of beach and snow. My fantasy is to split time between ski and swim once work is done. Have a place in Park City so half way there. Thought a lot about buying a place on SBH. Missed the opportunity as prices have gone insane since Covid. Only way to afford the SBH place would be to sell the ski place. Probably just rent. Like that certain famous on island couple.

I just had the pleasure of reading all your daily reports.

Very well done!

A beautiful couple having a wonderful vacation. '
I enjoyed every word...and cocktail!

Loved all of your reports and hearing about things we haven’t done in awhile, such as hiking to Colombier! We’ve never done a Villa stay, so that seemed nice, too! Thank you for taking the time to share your trip with us♥️🙏

You're so welcome, glad you enjoyed the read. It was fun to relive the trip and its great to have folks on this forum who understand and appreciate (or commiserate on not being there!)
