End of May visit - Day 5 - Colombier

Our favorite beach from our last trip was without question Colombier, so we had every intention to return this time around. As such, we were pleased to discover a slightly easier pathway to get there. Last time we hiked from the lookout point, which was lovely but a bit of a sweaty slog on the way back out. This time we availed ourselves of the much lower angle trail by starting at Petite Anse. Parking at the trailhead was not an issue, and we were amused by the goats, tortoises (6!) and iguanas hanging out there to greet us as we started our hike. The wrap around the point is beautiful and shows a more rugged and wild side to the island, which we love.

We set up at the far end of the beach (that seems to be our thing), and I did some snorkeling. I found the snorkeling on Columbier to be the best on the island, with some nice colors to the coral and relatively abundant marine life. Hit one end along the rocks near the Rockefeller pier, then strolled to the other end and swam around there as well (less to see on that end).

Back at the towel we were just giddy at the beauty of this beach, and we wished the time to slow as much as possible. Fully expecting to spend the day here, we had packed our snacks and oranges, and I had schlepped a couple Caribes and a nice Sancerre along in my pack. No reason to carry all that weight back, right? So we opened our wine, which retained a very nice chill in the insulated bag w a frozen water bottle and ice pack, and swam out to enjoy it in the sea.

We hated to leave but we had a magnum of Veuve Clicquot awating us at the villa that we hadn't started on yet, and we were more than half way through the week (duty calls!) We luxuriated in our pool and watched the sunset right into our glasses.

Dinner this Thursday evening was the 8:30 seating at Le Ti. Always lively of course, champagne and sparklers and beautiful people, and the food was better than I recall from last time. The cabaret and the scene is probably not everyone's cup of Ti, but we find it lighthearted and entertaining. And we like to do the dress up at the end and dance the night away a little bit (in other words, act 20 years...ok 30 years, younger than we are!). No pics to share from the rest of that night ;)
