Romi

Not surprising . . . I had to Google Romi to find out what it is. I don’t know when this name attached to the restaurant. Friends & I have simply called it “Tropical.” Little did we know that it is, apparently, much more! Of course, I haven’t been there in this new season, & in past years this Asian overlay was not apparent. I’ll be eager for reports!

With so many options that one doesn’t need too Google, why even consider?

I've seen Romi mentioned in a few trip reports with consistently positive comments about the food. A few people noted that the dining room seemed "empty." We are staying at Le Village for two nights before moving to our villa. I considered Romi, but knowing that the Sand Bar is only another five minute walk down hill is just too tempting. My last few meals at the Sand Bar were consistently outstanding.

We ate dinner at the Tropical in June 2022 before it changed to Romi. It was lovely in the garden with music—I think in season they have DJs on weekends or at least they used to. As I recall the former menu was pretty traditional and we enjoyed it. The bar there is very pretty, we’ve been a few times for cocktails or post dinner backgammon. My daughter and I stopped in last November for drinks and small plates. By that point it had become Romi and what we ordered (only 2 appetizers) was quite good. I have been wanting to try it for dinner again but as the saying goes…too many choices, too little time!
