Early December visit?

Four years have passed since our last visit (for many reasons). We find that we need to be in North Carolina for a wedding Thanksgiving weekend so we west coasters were thinking about using the opportunity to visit St. Barth the first week of December. We have always visited in the spring season.

I was wondering what the experts think about a early December visit. It looks like it is still low season pricing. I was curious if the good restaurants have re-opened, the weather, the crowds, and any other pluses or minuses about a visit at this time?

Thanksgiving is a busy time on the island. With the occasional exception, all restaurants have reopened by Thanksgiving.

By the end of the weekend after Thanksgiving the crowds the crowds have disappeared, and it is usually quieter for the first 2 weeks of December.

For most villas, High Season pricing kicks in on December 15.

I’ve been visiting at Thanksgiving for many years, and the typical weather is fine, mid 80s, with an occasional rain shower during the day, but most of the rainfall happening overnight. I wouldn’t expect it to be much different in early December.

Where do you live in Nor Cal? That is a long haul to the island from the west coast but from say Charlotte, we agree- make your reservations now and enjoy!

We actually moved from Northern California to Lake Tahoe (Nevada) last summer. Yes it is a long haul from the west coast and takes us longer to get to St. Barth than it does to get to Paris from here. That said, we went to Paris last time and now we need to get back to St. Barth for a different type of vacation.

We just did a last wek of November/first week of December trip and it was splendid!

Busy vibe Thanksgiving week. Slow Saturday thru Wednesday of the following week then picked up again.

Great weather after the first 3 breeze challenged days.

Yes it is a long haul from the west coast and takes us longer to get to St. Barth than it does to get to Paris from here. That said, we went to Paris last time and now we need to get back to St. Barth for a different type of vacation.

We used to live in Danville California for a while and still made it to St. Bart’s...quite a haul but worth it
Right now we are in North Lake Tahoe for annual Christmas trip..beautiful out here

Such a beautiful place! My father led the original surveying of Incline, dividing that enormous property, from Lake shore to Mt. Rose — into the spaces that you see today . . . in the early 60s.

Many great stories of those days . . . particularly remembering the opening of lot sales at year-end holidays — probably about 1960. Sales were overwhelmingly above anticipation when they began . . . the immediate result being that the three guys from OK who were Incline’s original developers — being “cash poor but land rich” — gave deeds to lots as holiday bonuses in order to keep the staff working over Christmas / New Year in order to process all the sales contracts! That overtime work paid off handsomely for the secretaries, who labored without benefit of computers!

You’re in a great spot . . . close to happy memories of my young(er) years!
