Bonjour!
I heard that WinAir has cancelled flights for the past3 days! We are flying intoSXM tomorrow and the jumping onto WINAIR. I need help- I don't want to book a ferry ticket JUST IN CASE, but will there be room on the ferry if we end up needing to take it because the flights are cancelled?

Please advise! Merci!!!

I've seen Winair planes over the weekend as I live in Flamands and see them leave, so not sure what you mean? Maybe some flights were canceled? Is there some sort of official notice about this?

We were told the same thing by our concierge WINAIR-flights would be canceled Tuesday l-Thurs. due to no wind .. painfully took the first ferry this morning and all Winair flights are operating as scheduled. 😔Have been going to St Barths for 20 years and we never have heard this… yikes. So bummed painful. Is this really an issue with no one effecting flights?

I am sorry you ran into this, too. This happened to us last year; this year, we did not have a problem, both trips in January. For more than 20 years of coming, mostly in April ( a much better month to come), we never had thought about nor had encountered any no wind problem. We worried the whole time we were on Island, though.

They appear to be flying this morning.

Watched the webcam and saw this last one take off at 09:47. Wind is light, but the socke is tending in the right direction

Merci! Sorry about that you also had a problem last year. All so interesting.
Very coincidentally I sat next to a pilot (who owns his own plane) and frequents St Barths on our Jet Blue flight today and had an interesting conversation.
If the fight is not full they should be able to navigate in most cases with little wind. Full flight it’s just not an option. We will book a later flight from St Martin our next trip so we have better options if wind is an issue out of St. Barths.
Do you remember years ago they would ask all the passengers your weight?
We avoid Jan ;)
Thank you for your reply.

Speaking of climate and weather related events, how are the beaches this season? Our last two April trips had Sargassum chasing us all over the island on certain days? Non factor this year? I dont seem to see anything like it on the webcams. Looking ok so far?

My thanks,

My thanks,

It’s a day to day phenomenon. It’s still the month of March. Keep following the forum to see if and when the sargassom re-emerges. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
