Recap of 9 days trip

First of all, can’t get enough of St barths. It really is like on other. For us the Super U & other grocery stores are really a highlight. There’s things on the shelves & in the coolers that really are outstanding & reasonably priced. Cooking in maybe 3-4 nights & going out the other nights was perfect.
Traffic seems to not have a solid schedule. Times you can find drive thru Gustavia no problem , other times it’s 15 minutes to reach the back of the harbor. Guess you just need patiences.
As to tipping, the thoughts are all over the place. I have no problem leaving a tip at any meal. We always left cash of around 10€ for a meal around $120 ish. I just think it’s inevitable tipping will be a norn everywhere. Workers just aren’t making enough especially in a place like this. No idea how servers, housekeepers & bartenders can make enough to have a decent place to live without sharing with 3-4 others. My father was a bartender when I was a kid, tips really helped out. This is just my thought but I don’t mind at all.
The scooters are getting a little crazy. Passing in oncoming traffic everywhere & not caring 1 bit the danger they are putting themselves & others in, but we deal with it. Not sure if I heard correctly but someone local told me in a year or 2, they are outlawing those 3 wheel scooter/ motorcycles.
Construction. There’s a crane around every turn, just hope they’re not jackhammering next door. The price of progress.
Glad people enjoyed my daily journal, I’m looking forward to reading other trip reports .

Thanks for the great report. Totally agree on how great the Super U is. We cook in a lot when we’re there, so the Super U is a great convenience. Even the U Express in Lorient is great for quick picks. First, how genius is parking on the roof, then taking your shopping cart up and down the escalator. The selection is mind blowing and the prices are very reasonable.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that French saucisson is on a par with Italian salumi. A fresh baguettè, cheese, saucisson and a cold beer make the perfect lunch.
Heading back in March.
