Planning a trip to the Borghese Gallery

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a trip to Rome soon and I’m particularly excited to visit the Borghese Gallery. I’ve read a bit about the museum online, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually been there. What are the best times to visit to avoid crowds? Are there any tips for booking tickets, or interesting spots nearby that shouldn’t be missed? I’m also curious about how long to plan for a proper visit without rushing.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

The Borghese Gallery is definitely worth it, but it's a bit different from other museums in Rome since entry is timed. The first slot of the day or one of the later afternoon slots tends to feel less rushed and slightly quieter.

Tickets usually sell out, so booking in advance is a good idea. The visit itself is limited to about 2 hours, which is actually plenty if you move at a relaxed pace.

Afterward, spend some time walking around Villa Borghese, it's a great break from the city crowds. If you have time, the Pincian Terrace nearby has a really nice view over Piazza del Popolo, especially around sunset.

A fantastic gallery. We did an after hours tour that was fantastic. We went with a small group tour so I am not sure when the best time to visit would be.
