Some places are “tried & true” — reliable over time. Pearl Beach Restaurant is counted, for me, in this small group on St. Barths. It always — for years! — has been reliably good-to-very-good . . . warmly friendly, with a welcoming vibe . . . notable for satisfying food & drinks.
In the past five weeks, I ate lunch there frequently & am writing now to say that Pearl Beach food & service have kicked-up a big notch. No longer only satisfying, the wide variety in menu items (now supplemented with fresh fish choices and a chalk board of daily specials) shows new, robust attention to flavors, appearance, & quality.
The service also is newly worthy of compliments. With a new Manager — refined & gracious, a trained sommelier from Norway — through a hierarchy of servers, “runners,” and bartenders, teamwork & guest-centric attention evokes composure & commitment to hospitality . . . which has happened without loss of the restaurant’s fresh, unburdened spirit. The ambiance, of course, shines in Pearl’s always-stunning setting and view.
. . . a welcome renewal of this longtime beachside gem (serving complimentary vanilla rhum at end of your meal!).
