Leaving Friday….can’t wait!

Coming for the Bucket and staying for our longest trip ever. Bringing newbies for the first part. Have appreciated all the updates on new places. As always, this forum is so helpful! We have reservations for a few lunches and dinners (Eddy’s, Black Ginger, Le Repaire, Beef Bar, Le Toiny and Pearl Beach.) We have one meat eater so trying to accommodate.

Sounds like the new Grain de Sel is good for lunch and dinner and Bananiers is still reliable for pizza. Read lots off good stuff about Mamo so probably adding it to the list. What about Barry? It says in the Le Refuge location but I don’t know where that was either. Peruvian/Japanese is a favorite so we would love some first hand info. Any other new favs?

We‘re also hoping to see some island friends while visiting (looking at you Dennis-hope you’re still around!)

Davesmom, how’s the shopping? (loaded question, I know…)

If you know the Bonito location then you can easily find Barry. It’s below Bonito, near the bottom of the hill. Before it was Le Refuge it was Skybar, and going back farther it was Ociela, Le Strand, and L’Ananas.

You should give a thought to Nyama in Corossol, at the former Au Regal location, owned by Clement and Túti who were formerly at Orega.

YES! That location has been a bunch of different things and I think we have only been once, when it was Ociela. Will have to think about Barry. And thanks for the reminder about Nyama. We haven’t been yet but definitely enjoyed Orega.

GdS was always a favorite post Saline lunch. So glad we can still count on it, as well as the pizza at Bananiers!

There have been a lot of changes over the years, but one thing is sure, you won’t starve on SBH!

We just came back, GDS is a home run, and the pizza & escargot at Bananiers are as good as ever. New for us was daybeds and an outstanding lunch at Cheval Blanc. We enjoyed Mamo, it's beautiful and service excellent. The veal tonnato was amazing and my wife loved her special zucchini pasta, but the other three mains were good and no better than DIsh.

We ate at Barry not long after they opened over Christmas.
The food was quite good and the staff very pleasant.
I would return.

Escargot is back on the menu at Les Bananiers? I did not see it on the updated menu. We have not gone back on any visits since the new ownership, but will our next trip for pizza….and escargot if it’s back!

I loved Mamo, the wahoo tartare and tuna tacos were standouts. I still like Bonito. I stopped by Barry on the way down from Bonito but didn't stay. It becomes a club at midnight. Le Papillion Ivre remains a favorite, as is lunch at Ti Corail. The next time I go, I want to try to ONLY go to places that serve Vanilla Rum at the end of the meal. That's my new SB dining goal. We'll see!

I love that goal! I was trying to think of places that still serve the rum to visit on our upcoming trip. I believe Ti Corail, Grain de Sel, and Pearl Beach do correct? Are there others?

Our newbie friends are loving the rum shots at the end of each meal. We also dropped by M'Bolo to see Sandrine and sample hers. Several new flavors, including an "atomic" version of the vanilla. Its a perfect blend of sweet/spicy (but not over the top.)

Bonjour, Marybeth! (We were locked down in Mexico, so I just saw this..another story..) I hope you are having an amazing time. As for the shopping, I only had a day and a 1/2 this time but did some economy building at the following: first stop was Fabienne Miot for 50th anniversary present, on to Vanita Rosa for more looking than buying as my collection is pretty full but exquisite things as usual, Ligne St Barth for necessities (grab your Vanille West Indies if in stock..it goes out fast), a very profitable trip to the lovely Océanne at Brin d'Île out at L'Oasis (this year, my theme was pink, so got some pink loafers and black loafers, and a black crossbody, but could have done more damage easily), of course a run by L'Originale and saw Sandra (behind Le Drugstore Caraïbes in Villa Créole), a cute fuzzy sweatshirt and matching tee at the former Pati de St Barth/French West Indies as well as a phone cover, stickers for my ipad, a profitable stop at Hermès with a really nice salesgirl, and my favorite store at Pélican Plage next to Nikki Beach, where I found some great clothes by Pho Firenze at TERRA but I could buy everything in the store if I could fit it all 😁! TERRA has a really interesting variety of clothing and bathing suits and seems to have something for everyone for years now; they used to do the runway show in Nikki and they clothes were gorgeous..if I were 6 ft tall! But the prices are really reasonable there for what you are getting. Other stores with gorgeous clothing were D & G (St Barth collection especially worth seeing), took a stroll through LV; prices good if they have what you want or did not know you needed (!), and missed Dior this time but the one in St-Tropez was pretty fab and a lot bigger. Looking is almost as much fun as buying but there was this little D & G purse in the window of D & G with Saint-Barth on it...(sigh)..well, DD is lucky they were closed (or maybe he told them to turn off the lights so I would not try to go in🤪!) Let me know what you find, and remember, SUPER U has the most fun stuff on the planet in the cosmetic/bath aisles, so never miss a SUPER U trip (or 3) for all the goodies you can find. (As always, make sure you have your extra duffel to fill up..to quote, "Don't leave home without it!") Bon voyage and I will look for your next post!! xxoo❤️

. . . absolutely love your shopping notes, Gina! Good thing that my wife’s interests trend to books,
