Global Entry Mobile App

Is this new? I just downloaded it.
Just take selfie in app and bypass GE kiosk?
Hi, it’s not exactly new as I think I have used it for maybe two years now or since it was first available. It works well at San Juan Airport. If you fly in on Tradewind, it is easier to know if you’re going to enter A or C terminal for entry ahead of time. For example, we may park at A but the bus takes us to C. That just happened last Wednesday when I flew in. There are times when we enter in A. So you take your photo pretty much when you immediately land and type in the correct terminal, etc (😀), and yes, you bypass the kiosk. They recognize you from the photo you take when landed and call you up by name, pretty much knowing who everyone is anyway since it isn’t busy. Last week, because of the A and C switch (my fault for just not asking when we were on the little bus), the customs agent was slightly confused but I explained it. I can tell you I have used the mobile app when flying in from Korea to LAX and there they didn’t call out your name, but you still can bypass the kiosk because there was a special line for those with the app. At JFK it was a different story. I did everything with the app, but there was no special line so it just dumped you into the global entry line like spaghetti, it was so confusing with so many lanes and signs all converging then going nowhere! Maybe more to answer your question, if it is available and working, and the entry airport is accommodating the mobile app, you do bypass the kiosk.

Thanks ! The kiosk experience (if there's not a cue) has gotten so seamless (with facial recognition) I wonder if it's even worth the bother???
I think since it’s free and very easy to use it is helpful if the airport kiosks have lines and if the airport isn’t configured like JFK where all lines converged into chaos. In San Juan it’s nice because they see you coming so they call your name as you are close to the booth. You walk up, say “hi”, verify nothing to declare and on your way! You do bypass maybe 3 others so the true tests would be arrivals at the major airports and not just my experiences where my international flights seemed to land at the same time as the rest of them!

I did! My family all use it! I even convinced my husband to use it and he loves it! They just call him to the front and he bypasses the kiosk. He travels more internationally than I do. He said on his recent London to Newark flight it was a breeze.
