Oh my. This sounds like a wonderful trip.

Michelle and Rich - my daughter and sil went to Capri about 2 years ago. They loved Capri!!! They made a reservation at one of the beach clubs for the day. It was a nice way to relax, after coming from Naples. The water was a little colder than she was expecting. She said it is quiet at night once the tourists leave, which they liked. They did not get to the Blue Grotto, but did rent a private boat to take them around the island, which she said was definitely worth the cost. They took the ferry from Naples.

For the Vatican and Colosseum, they purchased the entrance tickets directly from each location and not through a tour company, about 2 month before the trip started. They just did the self guided tour of the Colosseum and early in the morning is better. The Vatican's website is very easy to use. They used the Metro or walked, did not take taxis. No recommendations for places to eat, they would look for small places with a line and no English. They were never disappointed.

Learning the few phrases - hello , goodbye, thank you - was enough to get by.

Enjoy your trip.

My wife and I just got back from our second trip to Capri. We stayed at Hotel La Residenza in Capri town, very central and just about 50 meters from Quisisana, and we enjoyed it. We did a beach day at La Fontelina, Bagni Internazionali, and a boat day around the island with Gianni’s Boat. We did a private boat for just us and it is an experience we look back on very fondly. I would recommend doing a beach club day at Fontelina, the views are truly unparalleled, the food was very good also, Bagni feels much more like a locals place and that is a nice experience too. If you want to get into Capri town for meals and shopping your hotel looks like it will be quite a bit of a walk in distance and up hill. There are taxis on the island but, sometimes there just isn’t a road for them to go everywhere you need them to. I would highly recommend Angelica Capri Ristorante and getting the Taglioni Capri. And also Pulalli Wine Bar. It is in the bell tower in the main square of Capri town. Staff and food were great. Capri has a lot of day visitors, so doing something on the water during the day, or enjoying the pool at your hotel during the day is a great way to avoid the crowds. The town is much more intimate and charming after 6pm when the tours are gone from the island. Enjoy the trip!

Thank you for your valuable insights!! A private boat tour and time at a beach club are definitely top on the list. Rich and I have been working to improve our cardio in advance of this trip……thanks again - we value our forum friends!! All the best, MDC
