First time renting a car at Antalya Airport - any tips?

My family and I are headed to Antalya in a few weeks and we're planning to drive down to Kas. It's our first time renting a car in Turkey, and i'm a bit overwhelmed by the options at Antalya Airport.

Has anyone here rented there recently? I'm seeing some crazy stories about hidden charges and "mandatory" extra insurance once you get to the desk. Also, is it better to book with the big international brands or are the local Turkish companies just as good?

Just looking for a stress-free experience so i don't start my holiday arguing at a rental counter lol. Any advice on where to look or who to avoid would be amazing.

The drive to Kas is stunning! To avoid the stress at the desk, just make sure you have a credit card in the driver's name - most 'mandatory' insurance issues happen because people bring debit cards. I usually use Vipcars to compare the local Turkish fleets vs the big brands; it's pretty clear on the deposit amounts so you aren't surprised. Definitely aim for an automatic for those coastal switchbacks.
