Cape Air connection in St Thomas

Just returned home from a wonderful two week stay on the island. I don't post much, but this forum has been extremely helpful to me over the years. So, I hope this can help someone else in return! We flew Tradewind from San Juan on the way there, but on the return we did the Cape Air flight from SBH to STT. Great flight, smoothest landing ever. The pilot, Reese, was very friendly and helpful with directing us through the airport. Getting through customs upon arrival was quick and painless...and then we stepped outside into the crazy! I haven't been through STT in many years, so I don't know how much of this is normal or how much to attribute to the current TSA situation. But to check my bag I had to go to the United counter for my bag tag, and then keep my bag with me until we went through customs again and then another line to drop off the bag...and then another line for TSA precheck. We were told by others that they were recommending getting there 5 hours early and many people on our United flight said they stood in the lines for 3+ hours.
What I want to share though is the AMAZING service from the Cape Air attendant. She said that they were supposed to help us with transferring to the next flight and that Cape Air wanted to make sure our experience was great. So she said after getting our bag tagged to come back and find her. We did, and she took us and another family to the very front of the lines and they allowed us through, effectively skipping the line for customs. We are so thankful for her and just wanted to share this little tip in case this is the route for any of you in the near future.
