The Manapany, Pool time, Les Bananiers and some smoooth jazz

SBH Insider
Friday was going to be a low key kinda day. We were just going to hang around, chill out, and not do a whole lot.

Weeeell...

It didn't quite go that way, LOL!

We talked to Jeff yesterday morning, and he is such a sweetheart... he had arranged for us to have lunch at the Hotel Manapany, with a 'special surprise'. Now, when Jeff says that, it's always something good!
Now, if you remember from our post last year, we had a problem with getting our meal...but it really wasn't their fault. The chef had fallen and broken his leg!!! Anyhow, it was beautiful there, and we wanted to try it again.

We had a leisurely morning, and then headed down to Anse de Cayes...

...and the Hotel.

When you come in the gate, to the right is the spa...

And the tennis courts are to the left...

Well, when we got there, we discovered that Jeff had reserved us one of the "Little Houses" right next to the pool, which are like a cabana or thatched hut (there are only two of them!) for our lunch! WOW!

The view from our cabana...

So we get there, and they absolutely roll out the red carpet. The manager, Fedrico came by, and apologized profusely for our experience last year, even though we told him we understood completely, and weren't upset. After all, the poor chef had broken his leg! Nevertheless, Fedrico told us, he wanted us to have some champagne, on him! How sweet!

To the Manapany Hotel, Fedrico, and Jeff...who totally ROCKS!!

So the whole time we are there, we got absolute five star service...it was awesome..and so was the FOOD!!! The lunch special is only 25 Euros, and includes appetizer, main course and dessert.
We started with salad: marinated mushrooms and greens. Yum! That's shaved parmesan on top.

For lunch, I had the tuna...
4868844062_4f8d5d353e_b.jpg

And he had the marinated chicken breast with diced peppers and onions.

Dessert was simple, but delicious. Strawberry sorbet and praline ice cream...

And strawberries and chantilly cream

After lunch, I wandered around the grounds shooting photos of Anse de Cayes...

Then I headed back to the pool to take a dip...

Where I found...(Oh, Missy!!!)...this French hottie asleep by the pool. I would have gotten closer, but his girlfriend was right beside us, and I didn't want to be TOO obvious, LOL!

The pool was nice...cooling off, without the sand!

We had a very French lunch. It was well after three when we finally decided to pack it up and go back to the villa. OMG...it was such a wonderful afternoon.

I wanted to note also, that Jeff has gotten new furniture for the master suite in the villa! I like it!

We lolled around for a few hours, and then got ready to go out and PARTY!!!

Us, dressed up in sort of matching white linen:

And scooted up the hill to Les Bananiers!
4868851692_d38f8c18b2_b.jpg

We had eaten lunch there last year, and were really impressed, so we decided to try it for dinner this time. Once again, the food was awesome!
I had the grilled seabass, in a light garlic cream sauce...that little round thing on the left is spinach flan..it was good!
4868850752_d5af5b0220_b.jpg

Mark had duck breast in a honey and balsamic vinegar sauce. In the center at the top is a potato they stuffed with cheese (brie, maybe?) and wrapped in bacon and then baked.
4868236993_10fa140e32_b.jpg

The we had cafe au lait...that thing floating on top is not whipped cream...it's meringue!
4868851182_0d36fe2cb0_b.jpg

The house specialty dessert: bananas baked in a light pastry crust. Around the edges are caramelized nuts.

Then it was time to go to the Jazz festival!
We were going to meet Ellen and Rosemond, but unfortunately they had to cancel. We are supposed to try to meet up again later, though.
We did get to meet up with Mr. and Mrs. TomG and Mr. and Mrs. CC!!!
4868852240_cf4b9577b8_o.jpg

We had a blast, y'all! We just love the CC's and the TomG's were an absolute hoot!!! It was a wonderful night! We chatted and laughed and generally threw down for over four hours...it didn't seem like that long!!! We could have stayed all night...but it got a wee bit late...or EARLY...and the cc's had to fly out today. (Au 'voir! Have a safe flight home, y'all!)

We ran into Erin, the model again, and Rambo the Chihuahua...

The first set was Emily Elbert...
4868238029_47527a2745_b.jpg

And the second set was Project K-Paz...
4868852526_d712e5e515_o.jpg

Emily Elbert was WONDERFUL!!! She has a great voice, and sounds Nora Jones, and can play the hell out of the guitar!
K-Paz was good too....they were just a bit loud. We all liked Emily better...we could have listened to her all night!

Well, it's Saturday morning, and we are going to go climb up to Flamands Ranch again, and then jog to Colombier.
Seriously.
We eat.
We drink.
Now we pay.

Oops... one other thing:

At Les Bananiers, after the meal, instead of rhum vanille they brought us shots of rhum banane!

It was actually kind of tart, rather than sweet.

Pretty interesting!

Magnolias-another ho hum island day, I see-just kidding. You will sind that when you get home you will need a vacation from your vacation-we did.

What a fun day. We have wanted to try lunch at Manapany but never seem to get there. Next year for sure.

Dinner looks delicious, especially dessert.

I've enjoyed your day-by-day reports and photos. Keep having fun, and thank you for taking us along.

Denise & Mark,

Wow---your photos are exceptional.

However, this one is particularly (digital) scrapbook quality...what "vacance" is all about---a MOST relaxed and happy couple!

Mags, I didn't have time to read this whole latest report yet so I just looked at the pics .....you are settin the bar high here. What is the saying??? .......if you got it, flaunt it. You certainly have it and I love your sense of fun, sexiness, and style in your attire!! We're going to miss your reports when you leave ...sniff ...sniff .... for now keep on doing!!

We had a great time, too, and enjoyed spending time with everyone. The walk down the beach back to the car was just perfect. Emily is playing again this evening "with special guests" but we have a late reservation at Bonito and may have a snooze (inside joke) at the music festival at the Yacht Club afterwards. We're sitting at the Manapany pool as I type this on my iPhone, you're absolutely right, it is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

The Manapany looked empty. Did anyone else eat lunch?

That question has been burning in my mind since I opened the thread.

LOL!

Actually, there were a bunch of folks there. I had to work to keep them out of my frames, and a lot of the shots were late, right before we left..
At one point all the lounge chairs were filled.

I swam with these two adorable little French kids, who wanted to count in English for me.
The little boy made it to '13' and I taught him up to 20. I am a sucker for kids!

Yay!

Love that place! We were tickled to meet y'all, and holler at us if you want to try to do something before we have to leave on Tuesday!

Missy: Thanks! There was a nice breeze...and if the French hottie isn't there in November, I am sure his replacement will be!!! I love that white outfit, too!!! You just have to keep and eye on it to make sure nothing escapes, LOL!!!

Eve: Thanks! I am trying!!!

Amy: We wish we could get a vacation from our vacation, but I am afraid it'll be full steam ahead again...the day after we get back. Yuck.

Theresa: Thanks so much!!! I definitely recommend lunch at the Manapany. And definitely wear a swim suit and dip afterwards!

Jeff: Thanks sweetie! After all, you helped make this trip what it is!!

Cheri: Thank you! I wish I could stay and keeping doing these reports every day forever and ever. I am going to miss doing them. Y'all are fun to have along!

rub it in, already...will ya!!!

Your photos and reports are amazing. Love the underwater shots and have really enjoyed tripping around the island from beaches to restaurants with you. Thanks for taking the time to include us in your vacations revels.

Note on leManapany.
Class of the Mags couple to show proper discretion regarding other Guests...esp. ones in the pool, most sans tops.
Among the least "Americanized" establishments on St.Barth. Sunday Brunch typically a local event with lots of kids---remainder, quiet & romantic place for an afternoon.

Yikes...typing on the phone next to the pool?
