iPad for the Elderly

Larry

SBH Insider
Last week I bought an iPad for my mother who is almost 88. She had a stroke a few years back, she only has one good hand, and she's in a wheelchair. It's not been seamless but she is now e-mailing with her family and searching the web. She's having lots of fun with it!

The iPad can do so much without the user having to know much at all about using a computer. A good option for people who have never used a computer.

That is a lovely story, Larry. Good for your mom, and bless her for raising a nice man. My neighbors, all in their eighties and nineties SHARE one. Extremely funny. We meet three times a week and work on email, pictures...Carolyn, 93, emailed her doctor with a question. He called her back within three minutes to make sure she was okay. My neighbors laughed themselves silly - nobody has EVER received a return medical call so quickly.

Great story Larry! A mouse and keyboard could be overwhelming, but touching is so natural.
