Long ago we sailed from New England to the Caribbean for some winters. We home schooled our youngest daughter and she also attended the lovely school by Shell Beach. The school lunch menu was delightful. I wanted to volunteer.

I loved Gustavia for Christmas and New Year's Eve. We would shop for Christmas dinner at the AMC in Gustavia, then off to a mooring in Colombier. The centerpiece was always a Dinde, a turkey!, with prune and Armagnac stuffing that came in a box straight from somewhere in France. I dream about that dinde in a box. Christmas afternoon we would sling it in the oven, go swimming, and dine later- so grateful for all the stars in the silent sky.
New Year Weeks brought us back to Gustavia - a mooring in the inner harbor. The holiday excitement in Gustavia was electric, maybe more fun and manageable because we never needed to get in a car, drive and park and could go out to the boat and watch the show.
Always dinner at Eddy's for NYE. Remember the Yacht Club? I still hear it. And JB at Baz Bar. And Ziggy Marley at Eddy's. Our girls worked on the Big White Boats that one night a year. They made a boodle and wonderful friends.
I am grateful for your descriptions and considerations of villas and hotels from which to choose and take them all in with interest and gratitude. Your insight, specifics and humor are helpful. Thank you. I'm looking forward to coming back.
