Hello no there is no seat belts on the boat but Yes I have life jackets.

We reserved with Jean, for a round trip to Columbier beach, yesterday. We parked on the wrong side of the harbor, my fault, but he was gracious about us being 10 minutes late. FYI he is next to the taxi stand/public toilets which replaced the old fisherman’s hut.
Overall experience was exceptional. Very prompt on the scheduled pick up, too. Would rate 5/5 star service.

Noticed the captain on board and I chatted him up. Docked the opposite side of the harbor from the ferry terminal. A "water taxi" from the harbor to Colombier beach and return. You can specify a return time or call for pickup. Right now the price is 150euro for round trip, 200euro in season. Unless there was something lost in translation, that price is for the boat, not per person.
They also taxi to SXM.

Taxi Service (24/7)

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM: €75 per trip
• 7:00 PM – 12:00 AM: €100 per trip
• 12:00 AM – 7:00 AM: €200 per trip

Maximum 9 passengers per trip.

Colombier Beach

• €150 round trip from Gustavia Harbor until sunset (low season)
• Up to 9 passengers

Saint Jean Beach

• €200 one way
• €350 round trip

Private Charters

• From €250 per hour

On the one hand this is awesome. On the other hand, the empty, practically "all to yourself" oasis unless a couple of yachts are off shore now potentially being gone is not so nice. "Progress"...

Not sure what you mean but basically thereare no sailboats or yachts here during hurricane season - mostly due to insurance and spending the summer elsewhere... also lack of clients for charters for water taxis. A few yachts were here pretty late this season before they head to the Med or Newport, etc. Locals take their larger boats to dry dock in St Kitts or St Martin and the fishermen pull their boats out of the water when there is a storm alert... is that what you mean by "the empty, practically "all to yourself" oasis"?

Ah yes I know what you mean. At this time of year you'd love it - practically deserted I bet. Last time I was there was in April on the Sunday of the West Indies Regatta - like a boat parking lot but fun with the traditional boats heading back to port under sail...

yes all the traditional boats tie up together and people hop from one to another while people from other boats swim over to see them.. a lot of local folks bring their boats out as well - sail and motor variety - like Eddy, IB & Bertrand, Jean-Marc (bete à z'ailes), etc... people are very considerate not to blast loud music as sometimes happens in season !
