Quite a historic cay! Did you know that it was on June 14 that the US Army was, in effect, created! The Continental Army was established by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1775, predating both the flag and the Declaration of Independence. Moreover, it was on June 14, 1777, that the Continental Congress officially adopted the design of the first American flag. Flag Day became a national observance in May 1916, when President Woodrow Wilson declared a celebration on June 14.

Very interesting - and this is the original US flag design created by Betsy Ross in her adorable little house in colonial Philadelphia - the design featured 13 alternating red and white horizontal stripes and 13 white stars on a blue background to represent the 13 colonies

I recently learned that The flag Betsy Ross’s replaced had a star field of 13 that were arranged 4 stars over 5 stars over 4 stars for the 13 colonies.
