Dinner timing?

I have never solved the best time for dinner on lovely St. Barth? It seems like reservations fall in the 7pm range or the 9-9:30 range.

The earlier reservation is good for sunset evenings but can cut into the late afternoon-cocktail by the pool. The later reservations seem more robust, but does make for a later evening.

Any thoughts? We are going in early May - this time with a group. It's always been just 2 of us in the past.

We go in May (late May this trip) and tend to reserve 7-ish. Somewhat because that's what we're used to, but also because I think we get a bit more attention before things get crazy. Some restaurants like La Langouste always seem to be a bit overwhelmed once they fill up. Speaking of, we've experienced the lobsters start disappearing.

Reserve at 7 . . . cocktail(s) . . . dinner order at 7:30. Most guests reserve / arrive about 7:30 . . . which, after a cocktail, means that all of them order about 8 — causing the kitchen to be ”slammed.” Better to place your order avant le dêluge,

We reserve at 19h00 and that's usually/almost invariably "early" enough.

a few restaurants have been opening at 6:30 as americans wish to eat earlier. Eddy's and La Casina is another that I know of.

This is terrific - thank you all. That's what we usually do - go around 7pm - but it does feel like the 9pm slot is pretty prevalent/more active.

There are Chefs on St Barth, who if invited to your home/villa, would love a Chicken Fried Steak. It will be something that they’re not familiar with, and they would love it just for the experience of trying something new or different.
