Douglas Foregger, involved in real estate in St Barths for 30 years, bought the real estate agency Wimco SBH Real Estate from the Warburton family at the end of February. Director of international real estate for Wimco, Douglas Foregger also owned real estate agencies in Aspen, Nantucket and also in Stowe, Vermont. He is also a partner of the agency X Real Estate, a specialist in unlisted real estate in St Barths, and has partnerships with real estate companies in Lyford Cay, Harbor Island, Capri, Monaco, St Tropez, Portofino, Lago Como and Positano. Father of three Douglas Foregger is the co-founder of Help St Barth and St Barth Initiative, American and French non-profit associations that were heavily involved on the island after the passage of the hurricane. Irma.
Douglas Foregger was kind enough to answer three questions.
You acquired Wimco SBH Real Estate,
the sale section at the end of February, right?
Doug Foregger: Yes indeed. It is the business of selling real estate
which I acquired a few weeks ago. The vacation rental branch of Wimco St Barth was sold to Nocturne about a year and a half ago. At the time, Tim and the Warburton family had wanted to keep the real estate sales business.
What are your plans for Wimco SBH Real Estate? I want my family and I to be the responsible stewards of Wimco SBH Real Estate for the next 100 years. I believe that Wimco SBH Real Estate can be an advocate for continued, responsible and thoughtful growth, without destroying what originally attracted us to this truly special place. As for the future projects of the agency, I hope to have an even stronger connection with the population by rendering service and trying to bridge the gap between the island community and the visitors. I also hope that one or more of my children will want to take up the torch for future generations. I think we are in a very good position to grow the business organically in a reasonable and creative way without jeopardizing this
which makes Wimco SBH Real Estate one of the most trusted names on the island.
You remember your first stay on Ohoui Island. Thirty years ago, I stayed at the Presqu'île hotel in Gustavia, I jumped on stage with Boubou (organizer of the Boubou's Festival and former owner of the Mandala and Do Brazil, editor's note) and Yannick Noah. And I sang a song at the Pelican (now Nikki Beach, editor's note). That night I swam across the harbor with a friend and the next morning I was in partnership with two small real estate companies. Later, Tim Warburton came to meet me to meet this kid who loved Saint Barth and who was doing business with his sister-in-law, Brook Lacour (Sibarth). I have always considered Wimco as an ultimate competitor and a giant. I never thought that I would one day own Wimco SBH Real Estate. I am personally grateful to the Warburton family for trusting me and passing the baton to me. And I would like to specify that Lionel Garaix remains the president of Wimco SBH Real Estate.
