what are you eating??

We find the problem with a CSA is staying home long enough to use it and inviting enough people over to eat it,

Simple, we buy a 1/2 share, and if there's still too much then we share it with friends. If we're not around to pick it up then it gets automatically donated to a local food pantry.

absolutely..1/2 shares are good...or with some farms up here, you just tell them how many in your family and they adjust the price and volume to you...
never a problem or an issue whatsoever

That's nice and CSA's do fill a need but our Farmer's market carries all local all the time and I can buy what I want for 2 when I need it. I hate to be locked in to anything- except my wife of course.

yeah I agree Andy....we do both..CSAs and Farm stands......we did a meat CSA from an organic veal and beef farm and didn't like the choices they were making on our behalf...so we asked them if we can just a la carte items and be charged accordingly, and they were more than ok with that...so now we get exactly what we want all the time....more expensive than letting them pick and choose...but a better deal in the long run

I havent found a farm yet that wont tweak a deal to get your business....

seafood CSAs are starting to get a lot of traction up here....

My Farm CSA has added a Seafood option for this year. I passed. This year will be a watch-and-wait. Maybe next year.

I enjoyed that performance! Both of you, Amy and Andy. We just reached Newport, and passed loads of people jigging for squid off the docks.

they are really catching squid off the piers in PTown right now....

but I guess this Asian family on vacation last weekend went on a commercial trawler...shifted all their lines...squidded off the boat all night long...left a squid ink mess all over the boat and never re adjusted the lines

next morning when the Capt got to the boat, they were still there, and there was almost an international incident

yeah I dont know what in the world they were thinking.....but this year the police took over policing the wharf from the harbormaster and this would have never happened if the harbormaster was in charge

So, where did the harbormaster hire the family from, LOL!

LOL.....good thought...and that would be typical PTown.....but this really was a random family...the issue is/was - everyone jockies for the spots under the mercury lights on the end of the pier as that is where all the squid are at night....and I guess there were no open spots under the lights except this family saw the mercury lights over the trawlers and figured why not.....where most people wouldnt even entertain the thought
