Tí Corail

Missed Ti Corail the past couple of years, so we highly anticipated this lunch. Definitely an enjoyable experience. Made the reservation some time ago and were given a link to pre-pay 30€ per person. A little annoyed, but I guess this is the natural evolution from a CC to reserve to now a deposit. Curious if this has another iteration next year. Anyway, the four of us rode in a single car because of the minimal parking, but turned out to not be a problem. Parked along the road, which I thought was bad, but didn't see any no parking signs and no citations issued, so maybe we got lucky.

"Food Truck without wheels" was how it was announced once we were seated. Apperol spritz's all around while we went over the offerings. One writes directly on the menu the quantity of the desired item. We started with two orders of amazing vegetarian accras with a dipping sauce more akin to tartar sauce. So often accras are a bit greasy and fill you up soon after it's too late. These were anything but and we finished them all. For our plats, I had the Tuna Tartare, which was very fresh with much larger chunks of tuna than one typically finds. One of us had a coconut chicken rice dish which was also enjoyed. The other two had the lobster roll which could of used a bit more of the former, while the latter was pleasantly soft rather than the anticipated crunchy baguette. Minimal seating helps explain the necessary reservations and seating's as well as the pre-pay mechanism. It wouldn't take but a few no-shows to impact the bottom line. Pricing was reasonable and the pre-pay was deducted and roughly halved the bill.

The ambience was relaxing with maybe a dozen stools at two counters that flank one large picnic table, where we sat. The beach and water are beyond. A number swim-suited couples were eating in the sand, so maybe these were walk-ups? Only negative, and totally out of their control, was things got a bit stifling when the breeze died down.

We have enjoyed Ti'Corail multiple times on our last two visits, and have three visits reserved for our upcoming trip just four weeks away. Strangely, they did not ask for a deposit to secure the reservations. Not sure if it is because of the time of year, or that we are repeat visitors.

Completely agree on the lobster roll, we had that on one of the visits, and while it was enjoyable, it could have used more lobster. The tuna tataki, when on the menu, is by far my favorite. And the accras are not to be missed.

What makes the experience thoroughly enjoyable, besides the toes in the sand setting, is those that run it. Yann seems to thoroughly enjoy what he is doing, and takes time to speak to his guests and talk about the food.

Agree about the hosts. Didn't recall his name, but a real joy to be greeted by. Regarding the pre-pay, our friends made a reservation for December. No CC numbers exchanged, but a star was drawn next to their name, making them "Star Club" members. Maybe it's just for first time Ti Corail-ers like us. Makes sense.

I texted recently for a reservation and was told between June 7 and 27 there will be a limited menu (below).
Last June Yann went away and they stayed open with only drinks and snacks, no menu. This looks like a nice compromise.

We were there on Sunday. We started with Acuras and wine, then we ordered grilled lobster and bar-b-que ribs. Needless to say, was no dessert. Very generous and delicious portions. Yummy. We always go to eat with Yann each trip, never asked us for voucher deposit. Maybe we have a star by our name 😃

With respect to "could have used more lobster," is that a comment to the effect that there should have been more lobster, for the price . . . or just that you could have eaten more lobster? Maybe both?

I would like to have see a little more lobster for the price. It's a great tasting lobster roll, but the bread to lobster ratio could have been better.

Got it! I see on the above-posted menu that the price is 22 Euros . . . about $24 - $25. Not sure how the price or amount of lobster stacks-up against other lobster rolls on the island. When there in a couple of weeks, I'll have fun in making a price comparison at other restaurants.

Would like to see the Lobster to bread ratio increase. If the current sandwich size would be too $$$, then maybe less bread? Just curious, haven't bought langouste, but isn't it about the only thing NOT imported?

We will be back the end of June, will have to give it another try. It may have been that we just wanted more since it was so good.

That has become one of our favorite places. Love everything about it except for our parking ticket on our last trip. All cars parked along the road heading down were ticketed. We were told rule on the island there is no parking on a two way street although there were no signs posted. Lesson learned. Enjoy those of you on the island now!

We loved our visit in late March/early April. We had to provide a CC number to hold the reservation, but we were never asked for a pre-payment. (We are repeat visitors as well)

Love Ti' Corail! Definitely worth the reservation hoops to secure a spot. I agree with you on how hot it can get in there, especially after March when the winds change. They would be much better off if they removed that back wall or put a window in to let the breeze come through. I was sitting at the bar at Le Rivage one day last month and had to run over to Ti Corail to fetch something for one of our friends, and the difference in breeze coming through the building vs. no breeze was tenfold.

Parking is difficult there. So if you park heading in is it OK as long as you park past the first right? We went one time and there was absolutely no parking space. The valet at La Rivage let us park in their lot. He got a nice tip.

"The valet at La Rivage let us park in their lot." Unusual! The valets are instructed not to allow parking for people going anywhere other than Rivage.
