Sargassum on Gouverneur

So after our gorgeous day on Flamands, we stopped at Gouverneur to see the sargassum situation. Sadly it is not good. I hope it clears before we leave. As you can see they’ve been working on removal but there’s still so much left.

This is right as you enter the beach.

Comin' in by the ton right in front of Cheval Blanc today. This is an odd direction, usually when it comes in to Flamands at all, it is the opposite side of the beach. I'm sure there are a lot of unhappy tourists at the hotel today. 😩

Glad we have St. Jean…down hill from us but not as quiet as it used to be with the new establishments on the Nikki side.

Colombier was perfect today. Randy saw 2 hawksbill turtles on his snorkel. A bit more crowded than usual.

We saw a beach cleaning vehicle heading down the ramp to Flamands on our way back.

My wind app shows a strange west northwest wind, which would push the sargassum straight in to Flamands and St. Jean. I am guessing that Saline and Gouverneur have little in the way of sargassum washing up on the beach yesterday and today. The winds turn northerly on Saturday and then back to the more traditional northeast by Sunday.

Just flew back from St Lucia and the ocean was covered. Good luck stopping that at the source.
ER used to put a barrier up.
