Restaurant report 18-31 January 2015

I thought it was obvious

Slesgold and MantyPam were talking about the high quality of Midwestern beef and the stuff on SBH (possibly) not measuring up to the stuff they get at home. That reminded me of about 40,000 of Mike's posts! :devilish:

"The seafood sucks compared to mine"
"The veggies suck compared to mine"
"The boat mooring sucks compared to mine"
"We eat (at the villa) better than you do (at a restaurant)"
"We hang out at better beaches than you do"

For the record, I like Mike's posts and have learned a lot from them, it's just when I read about "Midwestern beef", Mike was first thing that popped into my head.

Peace, love and understanding

For the record, Alberta beef is even better.

OK..OK..I lll play along here

there you go again putting quotes on things I never said in those words......I think i might need a lawyer to deal with you...are there any lawyers on this site????

I have never been to M&P so I have no clue if its good or bad....looks good in pics though...

I m sorry if my high standard of what good food is bothers you....shame on me to want only local and freshly prepared.....and preferably organic ...shame on me for not wanting cess pool shrimp and cryovaced scallops and fish..........maybe with a little coaxing I too can mush and gush over frozen food prepared in an exquisite sauce in convenient micro portions

and I have plenty of forum folk in here who have dined and spoken on behalf of my in home meals....one even called it the best meal he ever had on St Barts:tongue:...and he was not paid to say that LOL

at the end of the day we all have different standards of excellence...viva la difference!

oh and slesgold...nice report, thanks for sharing, and you are bang on with Mayas

I love this!

Mike R - although I'm not an evangelist, but I too appreciate good food, meaning from fresh, not mass-produced, raw materials. Not sure if the term "organic" is meaningful, but I am as much a locavore as is reasonable, at least reasonable to me anyway.

How how do you feel about grass-fed vs. grain/corn-fed beef? I prefer the former, but my tastes generally run toward leaner meats anyway (unrelated to health issues).

grass fed only...we have a farm nearby
http://houdefamilyfarm.com/ who produces amazing grass fed beef and veal products.....only sold locally

Nice. We have numerous sources here. April to November, we have the largest producer-only Famer's Market in the country (8 blocks) every Saturday. You can choose from several cattle breeds that are pasture raised as well as other species of meat-producing animals (a surprisingly long list).

been to your fine state a few times for Packers games...great area....I could live there easily

my wife..a die hard Vermonter, has an issue with your cheese compared to Vermont though.....LOL

Your wife is hilarious! Even Ben & Jerry's isn't that great any more. Vermont is nice too, but they don't have a clue what "aged" means when it comes to cheddar.:)

I dont know..I'm skewed..I ve only had mainstream cheese from Wisconsin....on the other hand my my wifes uncle is a chef in Vermont and he often brings us these locally cave aged cheeses that really never make it to any mainstream market that are to die for good.....
