Often forgotten is how good a singer John Wayne was - as evidenced by this performance of Dean's theme song on Dean's TV show (starts at ~1:05 but the intro is also worth watching).

John Wayne was one of the first "singing cowboys" in films (predating the popularity of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers)... using the same method but with the clip of Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime that is posted above exhibiting what most would find better vocal skill...
