Any thoughts on this place--good or bad? We will be there in June with a 7 and 9 yr old. It will be our first time in St. Barths. http://www.fren

Re: Villa Raisiniers--Flamands beach

I tried to get that for next Feb. and it was booked long term. It is very nice- I passed it everyday on my favorite beach walk- Flamands. You will have a ball. The surf at Flamands can be a little rough at times but once you get over the waves it is fine.

Re: Villa Raisiniers--Flamands beach

I have stayed there 3 times. Basic furnishing, compact, but incredible location with a backyard right on the beach. It is actually the back side of a local family compound in Flamand. Not fancy. There is a planted walkway to the house. No bugs, but at night slept with the AC on since the waves crashing kept me up at night. I thought they would lull me to sleep. I think it is a great spot for a family. One bath, no dishwasher. Have not stayed there in 6 years...but the pics have the same furnishings as when I was there. One thing made us uncomfortable...the owner, or his brother, were frequently on the beach in front of the house looking in.

And I forgot to mention..I agree with Andy, walking on Flamand is one of the great joys of staying there...morning..mid day...or night. Incredible

Andy, Thanks for the pics

StBartFan--sounds a little weird, but you stayed there three times so I assume it wasn't that uncomfortable?

What about a bar/restaurant on Flamands? Price? What does a cheeseburger costs on St Barts and where is a good place to get one--that's all my daughter wants. I just want to know if everytime she eats a hamburger if its going to be $25?

Re: Villa Raisiniers--Flamands beach

Check out the range of prices for burgers on SBH by looking at recent Restaurant du Jour postings for L`Indigo (25 euros) and JoJo Burger (4.50 euros). On Flamands Beach you can probably get a burger at the restaurant at Isle de France. Betcha it's closer to 25 than to 4.50.

Bar-restaurant on Flamands is Isle De France- very upscale. Not for kids. However, your kids will love Le Select for burgers- in the middle of Gustavia- outdoors- where the action is. I don't know the price but I bet it's about $6.00. If you want to go a little further for burgers, it's JoJo Burger- in Lorient- the name says it all.

Re: Villa Raisiniers--Flamands beach

La Langoust is also on Flammands and is great for lobster. We stayed at raisniers our first trip down. The owner (Christopher?) was there everyday fixing the flowers which he seemed to take great pride in, but as mentioned above, there is a family living behind and can make using the bathroom a little uneasy. We also had a major problem with mosquitos there. And one more thing that we remeber, is that when the towels came back "clean" they often had a musty smell and smelled cleaner after a use from the shower. But I do agree, it was beautiful to look out from. I think I have posted a picture of the view.
