Comedian, actor, and "wild and crazy guy" Steve Martin has listed his Caribbean mansion in the postcard-perfect town of Lurin, St. Barthelemy, asking $11.24M for the 28,191-square-foot Villa Au Soleil. Inside the "tropical colonial," which Martin bought in 2008: cheery (read: lime and yellow) interiors, exposed wood beams aplenty, views from, like, everywhere, and a private hot tub on the master bedroom terrace. There's also, as the brokerbabble puts it, "lush tropical gardens," a lily pond, a Balinese-style gazebo with a flat-screen TV, a "spectacular infinity pool," a multi-level sun deck, and a bird's-eye view of St. Barth's tiny airplane runway. The PR people also brag about the half-acre property's "strong rental history," which seems to indicate that Martin hasn't had much trouble renting out the place in the off-season, which he started doing in fall 2008, asking $28K a week.

St. Barthélemy F.W.I. (PRWEB) May 30, 2013
St. Barth Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, the Caribbean’s premier expert on luxury living, has announced Villa Au Soleil as a listing for sale. Owned by comedian Steve Martin, Villa Au Soleil has garnered many accolades for its ambiance, spectacular pool, lush gardens and 270 degree views.
Tom Smyth, Co-owner and Real Estate contact for the US Market, reports that the interest from buyers is keen adding, “This is a gorgeous vacation home with a special mystique. It epitomizes the villa lifestyle here and the strong rental history is an added bonus.”
“People are first drawn to Villa Au Soleil by the opulent layout and extraordinary views and then after they arrive they find themselves falling in love with its hominess and warmth,” said Peg Walsh, Founder of St. Barth Properties Sotheby’s International Realty. “The tropical colonial charm that is felt throughout the house and the grounds seems to be the magic ingredient that has so many people declaring that they have found their ultimate home in St. Barth.”

In addition to the traditionally elegant architecture and décor that provides a contrast to the modern aesthetic found in many of the Island’s more recently developed villas, Villa Au Soleil offers a number of distinctive features that are coveted by those seeking the celebrated St. Barth villa lifestyle:

  • A secluded Balinese-style gazebo set amidst lush tropical gardens; a true sanctuary with a lily pond.
  • A state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen, a poolside barbeque shelter, a traditional dining room and multiple terraced dining areas; foodies and aspiring chefs are inspired to cook in and enjoy.
  • A bird’s eye view of St. Barth’s notorious little runway with the small planes taking off and landing.
  • Expansive outdoor living spaces that include a spectacular infinity pool, a multi-level sun deck and a patio.
  • A private hot tub on the Master Bedroom’s terrace.
For questions regarding the sale of Villa Au Soleil, Tom Smyth can be reached by phone at (508)-570-4481 or via email at tom.smyth(at)sothebysrealty(dot)com. Those interested in renting the villa should contact reservations(at)stbarth(dot)com.

Seems like a great price for the house and view and considering other prices on the island. We stayed up there for 3 or 4 years and its a great location.

My parents are renting that villa now. We plan to meet them next week and look forward to seeing it.

Steve and his wife had a child recently didn't they? Guess they don't have enough time to spend at Au Soleil.

Being on the top of a mountain isnt very baby proof. What a magnificent house! Ashland, can your parents adopt me?

Hi Ashland. I had the pleasure of chatting with your friendly Mom last night after the IDF fashion show

Eve, years ago one of the Wimco guys arranging our trip to St. Barts asked the same question. They love to travel but St. Barts is on their annual trip list.

Thanks to Ashland's mom for the invite, and to Toni for extending it to a few friends, some of us visited this villa tonight for cocktails. In my 30 years visiting SBH I've never seen a view that comes close to the view from Au Soleil. You may be able to get more detail out of this 360-degree panoramic image if you download it.

I have to agree. That view is beyond belief, and it appears to go on forever. Now if I only had the $11.24M. Thanks again to Gary and Toni for hooking us up.

My camera doesn't have a particularly wide angle lens, but you can get an idea of what a 270 degree view looks like.

And of course, no spectacular view is complete without a beautiful sunset.

We had the chance to visit it years ago when we were staying just down the road. It is an amazing view

Super villa. I did not see any rainbows this trip, so your shot is very special. Thank you

I'm still trying to figure out the exact location of this villa. If you are at the Santa Fe, and driving toward Maison des Plantes, is it on the right? Left? Around the bend you reach after "Feelings?"

Thanks
