For Forum members who knew “Andy’s Hideaway,” & others who know it by reputation, I’m making note of Neil Diamond’s 85th birthday this week. So many raucous renditions of his legendary song, with Andy (“the Big Guy”) leading us, night after night . . . ‘til he couldn’t do it anymore.

“Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good”

it was a simpler time. (“Sorry No Telephone”) Thanks, Andy . . . we’re grateful that you came along!

Memories...and Happy Birthday to Neil.

That Andy Hall coming over to welcome you to the Hideaway a ritual I never tired of lo those many years we visited SBH. I sure missed that big lug after he departed St Barth.

We loved Andy's and Andy.
He ran a great restaurant and equally important a great atmosphere!
We miss him for he new how to create fun for all.
We do not miss the restrooms!

George, the bathrooms were completely redone well before he left SBH.

He proudly brought me to the back to see them when completed.

I used to bring Andy jars of Branston Pickle and cans of Heinz Beans, purchased at a British shop near my office. Andy would gift me with a bottle of that corked wine, which I valued as highly as any White Burgundy purchased at other SBH restaurants.

Corked wine, warm beer, and a view of the car park! Andy's was often our first dinner, depending on what time we got in.....
Every year, first night dinner was Andy’s, and every year was 1 or 2 visits ( sometimes in the same week😁!) to L’ Esprit! At least half the equation is still left.. I haven’t been but sounds like Mapo might be a good first night dinner choice.

After dinner at the Hideaway, we would walk over to Le Piment for a cocktail. Many times Andy was already there sitting at the bar and of course we would join him. He is the one that told us not to tip in St B.

Our first time to St Barth was our honeymoon in 2007. The Hideaway was our first meal and we had a long chat with Andy as it was a slow night (October). We made it a point to make it our first meal there on every return trip. Miss him and that place.
