Tour of Temporary Facilities at SXM

Today was the 1st day of opening SXM commercially . Any reports how it went with the 1:00pm commercial flight arrival processing today?

On the SXM Government FB page there is a FB Live video of a reception including local officials and the Captain of the Delta flight. I haven’t watched the whole thing, but I’ve skipped through parts of it. It was raining in SXM today, and the Captain specifically extended his thanks to the team that got ATC up and running. He said that without it, he would have likely been in a holding pattern, and then diverted to Punta Cana.

I haven’t seen anything re: the processing of passengers.
 
What is Premium IV? We have a tight connect of 1 hour 55 minutes from touchdown at SXM to connect at St.Martin Grande Case which is about 1/2 hour taxi ride away. Do I need some VIP help?
 
Premium IV is a concierge service located on St Barth. One of the services that they offer is a VIP handling/expediting service for people transiting through SXM. They partner with a local SXM aviation handling service to do so. They can meet you at the jetway (if they still existed today) or the Transit Desk (if an analog exists today), fetch your checked luggage and transfer it to your SBH flight (negating the need for you to go through immigration, fetch your own bags, recheck them, and pass through the departure process), escort you to your gate, and potentially get you on an earlier flight.

The above is what is offered for people doing an in-transit connection at SXM. It’s worked well in the past. I don’t know if/how it will work today, given the jury-rigged status of arrival/departure at SXM. I also don’t know if/how they can assist passengers who are arriving at SXM, but departing from SFG.

As to whether or not you’ll need VIP help, nobody can say today. SXM needs to operate for a bit before anyone can say if it is working smoothly, or if it is a horror show. Next comes the question of what, if anything, PIV and their partner can do to expedite a passenger connecting through SFG.

Kevin, you have covered all the bases here. We too think highly of the excellent service delivered by Premium IV in getting us transferred to the SBC or Winair flights to SBH from St Martin's SXM. Too soon to see how things are going and if the temporary fix is really working.. When is your trip?

Jimmy and Vincent are both online and will answer any questions about your trip to Grand Case. If this were in any other year I would say that your connection is extremely tight since you are flying out of Grand Case. Considering the reconfiguration of Juliana no one here can render a guess.
