St. Martin/St. Maarten Border

Someone told me they thought they were letting US Citizens visiting the island of St. Maarten to cross the French Border.
Anyone know anything about this?

american tourists are not allowed to cross the french border in st. martin, so that would be a no.

How about British and Canadian (flying from Canada)? My wife and I are planning a trip in December and due to the late arrival of our plan plan on getting the evening ferry from Marigot. Obviously things will likely change between now and then but it’d be good to understand the current Situation.
