14-day quarantine required. how are they going to police that? and a local agent, maybe it's their responsibility?

Exactly! Quarantine protocoles don't work unless people are placed in a government-controlled facility. Relying on people's behavior to respect quarantine isn't the answer. This is why local authorities should simply remove the self quarantine/isolation requirements in their current forms. Most people won't respect it.

It is a smoke-screen used by politicians to show that they are taking "all precautions to avoid the spread of the virus". You either open the borders or you don't. But opening the borders pending self-quarantine at home (or on your boat) is not a solution. Local authorities simply don't have the manpower to control this.

Islander, give it a break. We are all tired of listening to theories, suppositions and unfounded opinions. I suggest we let the authorities determine when to tell us how the island will proceed. Goodnight.

JEK: Thanks for the personal address, however it shouldn't be directed at one forum member when several people are expressing opinions. Targeting is not moderating. You should know better.

"Opinions", however, is what makes sharing interesting, much more than copying, pasting, Google translating press articles, particularly when these articles come from unofficial sources and/or the translation is not good. This is tiring, yet common.

I agree with the fact that we should listen to official announcements made by the local SBH and SXM authorities including :

Collectivité de Saint Barthélemy
Préfecture de Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy
Gouvernement français
Sint Maarten Government

Only the above authorities will confirm how and when the borders will open. The rest is speculation.

Goodnight.

Islander, keep up the good work with alternative news sources and opinions, you add a different perspective than several on here. It's a shame that some on an anonymous forum get censored and threads get closed if you don't FOLLOW the narrative of the good ol boy crew. Perhaps you start your own thread on updates?

Sometimes it feels that you must follow the company line here; and there are some toes that it is verbatim to step on. Animal Farm is a great novel that points this out. Stay safe.
