airport work?

Looking at the webcam display of the airport for the last few days I have noticed the 'woody woodpecker' jackhammer literally tearing up the tarmac where normally the planes sit between flights. Busting up rocks is a fine old St Barths tradition, I know, but it usually occurs near the villa where we are staying, wherever that may be. As I am several thousand miles away, I would like to know who gave permission for this destructive behavior, and what will it accomplish?

Here's a photo of the work. New concrete for the planes.

Thanks. I guess that's French tax Euros at work. I don't recall that part of the tarmac being in bad shape, but, what do I know? Certainly not from too many jumbo jets.

Well, it's a perfect time to do maintenance work at the airport. Idol time there is practically non-existent.

What a fabulous old picture. I looked at it for a long time.

I remember the weird feeling that came over me as I saw a cemetery and headstones as we landed! I really wanted to kiss the ground after our first arrival.
