Also, it seems the person hospitalized on SBH was suffering from a standard flu and tested negative for the Coronavirus. This verified from the person’s FB post of her discharge.

We arrive to SXM/SBH next week on 3/11. Certainly appreciate the updates and all the great posts from all on this site. I will post anything noteworthy we encounter on our travels.

We are due in on April 1 and would appreciate any first hand account of what is happening on the island...

Was this the same person being reported on by the media? All of the stories I found mentioned that it was a male and he was under house arrest on SBH, while his parents were on SXM. Just wondering if the media got the details wrong, or if this was a second potential (thankfully negative) case.

If you are interested in the testing kit situation in the U.S., check with your physician, local hospital and local health department about the availability of testing kits. If there are kits, the next questions are 1) what is the criteria for obtaining a kit and getting test results, 2) if a factor, inquire about the cost, if any, and 3) confirm that the kits are not from the defective lot that was previously sent.

Current reported cases 92. Deaths 6.

Some of the information from media sources regarding SBH cases is confusing, and is sometimes dated. I prefer to go by the information from ARS, the regional health authority. As of 12:00 local time:

Still 1 confirmed case on SBH, isolated at home.
Still 2 confirmed cases on St Martin, in the French-side hospital.
New, there are 2 additional suspected cases on SBH, which are being investigated.

Here's a link to the ARS document from 12:00:

Thanks, Kevin.

It does appear that, at the moment, testing is more readily available in SBH and SXM than in the U.S.

initially, coronavirus testing was done in
Guyana. Going forward it will be done in Guadeloupe, for more rapid response.

For those of you who may have been referring to the CDC site for coronavirus data, as of today, the site is no longer reporting total tested (yesterday, on the site, it read "472") or the number of deaths (yesterday, on the site, it read "0"). Those two reporting data points have, for some reason, been removed.

Johns Hopkins is still maintaining its global data base - cases, recoveries, deaths.

For those interested, private labs and universities in the U.S. have been given the go ahead to develop tests and perform the testing. Testing is expected to increase exponentially.

Other good news, The WHO reports that cases in China appear to be leveling off, attributed to speed in testing, massive public education about the virus, contact tracing and quarantine.

Today's Point Bulletin shows no change in numbers from yesterday.

Still 1 confirmed case on SBH, isolated at home.
Still 2 confirmed cases on St Martin, in the French-side hospital.
Still 2 additional suspected cases on SBH, which are being investigated.

Kevin,

would it not be better to start a new post with daily local info on this virus instead of responding to a thread where everyone can make comments?

it could be a post with a lock on it and only you can input each day. just my two cents.

Its nice of you to update everyone, because with correct information, people are less likely to panic and change their reservations.
