THE LONG FLIGHT HOME by Alan Hlad

A fascinating tale about homing pigeons used to deliver information from the French Resistance fighters to RAF strategists across the channel. More than I ever knew about these birds, their training, and the important role they played.

Of course we have an American from Maine, a lovely British woman who trained hundreds of these pigeons, and the horrors of war and how their stories all come together.

Note.I do not think I can ever again enjoy eating Jean-Claude's pigeon dish as good as it is.

I second your endorsement, Amy. Read it awhile ago. A book that stays with you long after you have finished it. I knew about carrier pigeons but found his descriptions so vivid I felt as if I were holding one. They certainly were important to the war effort.

I can not tell a lie-tonight I confess, I had the pigeon/squab at L'Esprit- simply SENSATIONAL.
