“Maiden”

This docu—drama is worth seeing—and not just for sailors. Tracy Edwards and the all-woman crew of “Maiden” sailed in the 1989 Round the World Whitbread Race from Southampton to Southampton; it was the first time women had tried this since sailing was such a male-oriented sport. The movie highlights the determination and courage of these women in showing the world a “can do” spirit. As they look back at their experiences, the women are both proud and almost awestruck at what they accomplished. The sailing scenes are exceptional and the story is uplifting. Not widely distributed, the film is mainly shown in small theaters. Seek it out—you will not be disappointed!

Correct. The film is based on the book which I have read. The sailing scenes in the film make the passages in the book come to life.
