The rains have finally come

The Island has been suffering a terrible drought for the last six months or so, but it looks like relief is here. It has been raining hard all morning, as it did during most of the night. It looks like we're getting part of a much heavier system that is currently hitting Guadalupe and it's neighboring Islands. Not pretty, but sorely needed.

This is fantastic news! Prayers answered, indeed.

It looks like the storm has past. Sky is brightening, and there hasn't been any significant rain in an hour or so. Hopefully, enough has fallen to keep plants, animals and cisterns happy and full. It was certainly enough to drench Amy and I as we ran our errands this morning.

Great news for the island and only a hiccup for those of us on the island. We made the most of it and enjoyed eggs benedict and cafe creme for four at Victoria's with a great view of the storm over the harbor, followed by wine shopping, champagne drinking, a trip to Gouverneur after the rain cleared and afternoon cocktails at Pearl Beach. Black Ginger was packed for dinner mentioning they served 100 people last night and only 30 on Sunday.

Météo France has a weather warning up for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms from 8PM tonight (7/30) until Noon tomorrow (7/31).

Sounds like a great day!!

The rains have again come, with up to an inch already reported in some locations. IMHO, overnight rains which come while I'm sleeping are the best rains. The white noise of rain on a villa roof is calming to me. That said, too much of a good thing at one time, and rain on SBH is most definitely a good thing, can bring new problems. That inch of rain fell in less than an hour.

Lots of noise during the night and not the soothing rains that are so enjoyable. Thunder now, so probably, more on the way.

Our villa is wrapped in a foggy mist, visibility to the door mat.

Getting clearer as the cloud lifts. I can see the pool out back and the line up of cats and kittens who are solely interested in chowing down before more rains come.

View is opening up One brave sailboat heading to Nevis. Don’t know if the airport is open yet.

Good news..our lawn is greening. Amazing what a couple of days of rain can bring back to life!

That’s absolutely wonderful news, Amy! Yeah, rain coming down on the island at an inch per hour can certainly cause other issues, but, the rain is so sorely needed. Hopefully no flooding or washed out roads have occurred.

Lots of flooding and rocks on the roads too. Hopefully CAUTION and COURTESY will be the priorities of drivers of trucks, cars and scooters this morning.
