Victoria 5/2 Lunch

We read about the Victoria daily specials, since others from prior posts had positive expereinces, we gave it a try. KEEPER!
We enjoyed the layout and atmosphere, decoration was very nice. Great bartender and wait staff. Sunny today, so it is a little warmer than the past cloudy days. They have abundant A/C in the dining room and bar area. Huge glass sliding doors to view the harbor in both directions. The doors were partly open, so you can get the ambiance, but had the A/C running so you got a cool waft of chill air. Best of both worlds.
Cocktail of the day was "Coffee Coco Colada", was very scrumptiously presented with upside down diminutive bottle of rum, opened, so you can lift and pour the amount you desire into you libation. Needless to say, we both poured 100%. Generous size goblet, just the proper amount of extremely small cubes.
Lunch special was Caesar Salad with small cubes of fried chicken, blue cheese, orange slices, pecans and other delights. Absolutely divine.
Like Phil and Amy state "too many restaurants, not enough time". That is becoming our problem in staying only 1-week :(
Maya's tonight for dinner.

Yup you said it, too many choices! :biglaugh: We just booked for next March nine nights(!) and I am already stressing our restaurant schedule especially since so many previously closed places (Eden Roc, hopefully Guanahani) will be back on the roster. The conversation pre-trip usually goes something like this: Me "you know, we don't have to go out every night, we can get a Poulet from L'Oasis and just watch a movie", Hubby "But I want to go to Tamarin, L'Esprit, L'Sola, Le Sereno, Bonito, Les Bananiers, Baz bar, La Langouste, Santa Fe, and I want to try Victoria, Le Grain de Sel, Aux Amis, Ociela, Fish Corner, the new Eden Roc, whatever it might be..." So you see the problem...an elegant one as my Dad would say. I need to get to work on it right away.

One of my employees is getting married in 3-weeks. Instead of a wedding celebration, they opted to spend their wedding money on a 2-week honeymoon. Now, I do not hire idiots. However, John’s Wife to be, requested 2-days on St. Maarten and 12-days in St. Barts. John says to his honey “but Bob said do the entire 14-days on St. Barts”. She replies “2-days in St. Maarten, I want to go to the casino”. To which John replied “we live 3-hours from Atlantic City, I’ll take you there whenever you want”.
To which, Anita speaks up “Bob, let them do her 2-days in St. Maarten, then they will have a greater appreciation for St. Barts”. Mind you, neither has been to the Caribbean as yet.

They'll see the difference & know for future visits where to spend their time & money. Wishing them a happy life !

I am happy that my search has ended. After visiting so many other islands, We have found our happy place!

We did that our first trip. Makes for great appreciation for the island

Hi Eve,
Sorry to hear about your scam. I have read on this forum about that by other,s as well. However, we have not experienced any issues, having dined there 5-times to Bagatelle.
Bob
As Adam Sandler says in the movie Happy Gilmore "go to your Happy Place". I'm here!

We agree SBH is the best island in the Caribbean! We don’t recall being scammed at Bagatelle but did resent attempts to move us up to more expensive wines. We think though those days are behind them as we have not had those kinds of issues in years.

I'm with you Bill. Not a single incident for us at Bagatelle in the many years we have gone there. We are careful what we order and check our bill when it arrives. Last night at L'Esprit we were charged for 4-glasses of Rose on our bill, when we only ordered 2. Does that mean, we start complaining about attempting to be ripped off by JC and his staff. NO, mistakes happen, we are all human. Once, I paid at Petite Colombe bakery with a $100.00 US bill for our breakfast treats, she gave me back almost 200 Euro's in change after the purchase. I brought to her attention, her mistake immediately, and got the matter resolved. What goes around, comes around.

We too were scammed at Bagatelle years back and when we brought it to attention of manager we were treated rudely...
Off our list.

I can understand Steve and Aimee. I feel your pain, if I were treated rudely about a similar matter, OFF my list also. Fortunately, have not had that experience on St. Barts as yet, hope it does not happen.

During my last trip, I had breakfast at Victoria twice and dinner there once. Honestly, I could dine there daily. I love it's location on the quai and all of the ingredients seem to be very fresh. I would give Victoria five stars.

No issues with the check, but, I always check the addition...honest math mistakes can happen.

You didnt see it until you got your charges at home?

i thought I saw it wrong on the bill because my glasses don’t work so well. When I got to the hotel I checked and just laughed at what an idiot I am
