any good snorkeling at St. Bart's beaches

I haven't seen many good reviews re. the snorkeling options in St. Bart's. First time on the island & hoping my wife and I can find some beaches that have good snorkeling for us. Any thoughts where we can find some shallow coral reefs without having to rent a boat?

My list for best snorkeling locations:
1. petite anse--fish, eels, turtles, shark
2. shell beach, left side (facing the ocean)--fish, turtles, squid
3. Colombier, either side--fish, rays
4. Saline, left side (facing the ocean)--fish

You can also catch a 1/2 day sail to Ill Fourchue from Gustavia. They spend a couple of hours anchored for your snorkeling and usually do a little wine cheese crackers and fruit for the sail back

You can rent decent snorkeling gear at local shops (someone help me here, I've been off isle too long to know where to rent today) - but - why pack stuff?

Petite Anse is wavy, but cool.

A bit of a walk is to Colombier, from Petite Anse in Flamands. It's a fun day to spend (pack water, snaks (pate, brie, wine, etc.) & beach blanket.) Great exercise walk with plenty of great views and calm waters.

If you are ready for it, :pray1: my safety warning!, tackle the waves with care and check out the sides of Guv beach.

Yes, there are fine charters that will take you around to other great spots.

All's I can say is - Safety first, make it a dream come true.

I used to carry diving stuff everywhere. SBH has pro stuff. Less to haul now.
