An update on
the Eden Rock
construction project

The rebuilding work is progressing
and the Eden Rock
Team wishes to share another
update with the St Barths island
community.
We will reopen around November
and the date will be released
shortly.
Buildings now are fitted with different
defences and engineered with
some submarine type doors here
and there.
The Rock and its history are cherished.
Our company is changing
what must change leaving the Rock
much the same as it was. Note the
before and after pictures attaching.
Three new Signature suites are
being built where the On The Rocks
Restaurant and kitchen were sited.
All restaurant operations now are
moved down the Rock to one level
and to one new and defendable centre
point. The brand-new Sand Bar
area becomes the gourmet centrepiece
of the hotel and its new Rémy
Bar will be the life & soul of the
whole place. A library, the Eden
Being boutique and an extended
Salon, Terrace and Rémy lounge
will all form part of the new Sand
hub.
Eden’s’ original Rock soon will become
a lot less busy and a lot more
peaceful.
The reconstruction project is being
led by Eden Rock Management and
Architectonik and we all are proud
to be working with numerous island-
based specialist artisans and
material suppliers. Our united goal
is to help create a solid foundation
of quality with other island businesses.
This to deliver together the best that
St Barths has to offer its guests
which is an island with refined hospitality,
world-class French service,
and the hard work we all contribute
together which shows this island’s
remarkable spirit.
St Barths is unique in the world.
Nowhere of its type is better than
this place.
Eden Rock looks forward to continuing
its contribution to the local
economy.
We thank the Collectivité and our
fellow islanders, guests, friends and
colleagues for their patience during
two years and we hope that everyone
will be delighted with the end
result when we reopen Eden Rock-
St Barths.

I wonder if the "cheap" rooms behind the old Sand Bar (across the path) are still there or if they were swallowed up by " the new Sand hub."

It looks like the entire restaurant area and the space behind it are being re-designed. The old rooms behind the Sand Bar haven't been "cheap" since Eden Rock's association with the Oetker Collection.

Hence my use of quotes :blush-smile:

It looks like a Potemkin village. I realize my opinion is influenced by my memory of what it was like when Remy de Haenen owned it and was there. We were fortunate to meet him and talk about the history of his Roc. Certainly time marches on and updates are necessary. However, I have a feeling the size and scope of the new Eden Rock is way beyond what he would have endorsed. I wish the current owners and patrons the best---- but I will cherish my memory of what it once was.

5 days a ago it was just a pile of rubble and a jackhammer going 8 hrs a day. Good luck with that.

I have never stayed, but the years it was all jeweled toned was the most gorgeous.
I wanted to stay there so much then but never made it. (I’m too cheap)

What a view ER had over the water at night! (Made up for the mediocre sushi ... sorry but it really wasn't their best dish!).

Now from the above, it seems ER are trying for a very appropriate rebuild. I do hope they come back in style -- and also bring back that pontoon people could sneak onto to dive off of.

So this is making us a bit wary of the construction and noise..
Our villa is up the hill a bit overlooking St.Jean and Eden Rock and assuming we will be within earshot...will be there mid May...already anticipating yak yak all day...nothing we can do but incorporate it into our day....aahhh St. Bart’s.....
