Gendarmes our stopping cars Saturday night!

In the road in front of the airport, each car both directions were stopped around 10:45PM and checks were made of the drivers. We believe it was for possible DWIs and seatbelts. It was quick and done politely. Glad they were doing it.

Under French law, the limit is .04, half of what is the typical .08 limit in the US (except for Utah, which just lowered the limit to .05).

We were coming home from dinner. There was a line of cars and each one was stopped ever so briefly. The Gendarme put his head in the car, took a good look around, smiled and sent us on our way.
