I have been a fan of this now deceased author for many years. This time, I got into the 1951 Montana boy’s coming of age story right off the bat. As he travels by bus from Montana to Wisconsin and back again, he encounters wonderful travel companions. All the characters, both good and evil, kind and cruel, become real as hie tells his story. A well written and wonderful tale.
