Government shutdown causing airport security lanes to close

Check with your airport before you fly out as delays may occur due to longer waits as security lanes in various airports shut down due to the government shutdown.

all federal employees affected by the shutdown will be paid retroactively. if they're furloughed or voluntarily staying home will they be paid for not working?

Contract employees may never be paid, the mechanics of doing that are much more complicated than with regular with federal workers.

They are sprinkled in many of the agencies from food safety, prisons, courts and veterans care, even though some of their departments may be funded otherwise. I'm hoping the dedicated people that examine our aircraft, view air traffic and radar screens will show up on the job next trip.

It's actually more expensive I'm told to "run" the government via a shutdown than normally.

We know the ex head of the Indianapolis Airport- he said all will be ok- he believes but it depends how long all of this goes on. If a terminal is shut down as it apparently has in Miami then all bets may be off.
