The Great Wall of St. Jean

With a huge amount of construction and rebuilding happening, much of St. Jean beach has a big wall behind it. The view of the water is still great but the ack-ack machine on top of Eden Rock is not so great.

You’re seeing the early glimpses of a massive new ER. What is going on behind the wall is far far beyond a post-Irma repair.

Yep!! Here’s a shot of the thing going between the old Eden Rock and the road.

We head to Pearl Beach quite often and bring ear protection because of the Eden Rock demo.

Just kidding, not that bad, the restaurant is pretty well gone. Love the new Pearl Beach!

Not quite the wall of sound that you might like to drown the acking out... but the result may be as transformative...

When you wrote “Wall of Sound” I didn’t think you meant *that* Wall of Sound. But I’m glad that’s the one you were referencing!!!

. . . looking forward to the ER “pop-up” bar / restaurant opening later in the month. Last year’s Lorient version was a delight.

Whew- you had us worried! Glad the 'ack-ack' although bothersome is a temporary sign of progress!

Here's the photo Eden Rock posted on Facebook to announce their new Pop Up restaurant on St. Jean bach. It is being advertised for exclusive use of ER villa renters.

Let's hope the new humongous Eden Rock Hotel will not become an eyesore on the island we all love.

Today I passed by and noticed that The structure is much closer to the road.

That may mean less room to park than before or maybe more across the road?

OMG, what a shame that such a unique icon, the "Rock", seems a little bit cut down to size...St Jean beach is not looking its best right now. It makes me sad to see this. The "Rock" is what is so distinctive
