La Baleine greeted my 11 y/o granddaughter and I like long lost friends.
The perfectly manicured gardens surrounding the pool are heaven to many delightful little chirping birds and skittish lizards.
The outdoor living spaces are positioned to enjoy every possible view. The gathering deck, with unobstructed views as far as the eye can see, was a magical spot at night to lie back on the Adirondack chairs to watch the stars pop out, one by one and rival the moon’s brightness. And, the breezes are simply dreamy!
Not to mention the most stunning spot to ooh and ahh over the many rainbows gifted us on this visit.
The gazebo, just steps away from the main case, beckons diners to relax under cover. We ate breakfast here most mornings and worked a jigsaw puzzle during lazy afternoon rain showers. A more perfect spot can’t be found.
The kitchen is equipped with every creature comfort imaginable! Not being a cook, it was all lost on me. However, I can attest to the abundance of dishes, silverware, glasses, pots and pans, as well as serving pieces. This kitchen is ready for a dinner party!
At this posting my princess granddaughter is deeply ensconced in dream land in the main bedroom so the below photos are from another of the 3 bedrooms.
I’ve been visiting St Barth since 1997, but found true serenity when I first stayed at La Baleine in 2009. Circumstances kept me away from this villa for a few years, but the first time back, a few years later, it took less than 30 seconds to feel right at home. The same is true for this visit. Relaxation and serenity came immediately!
One of the reasons this villa exudes such beautiful energy is her hostess. Rosita Magras. From the way she’s elegantly decorated La Baleine to the hospitality she gifts her guests...she is a perfect hostess. I’m delighted to also call her a dear friend.
We are mid-stay as I write this and am looking forward to a few more days of peace and tranquility at La Baleine.
Gotta go...my petite princess is awake and we hear a sea shell filled beach calling our names.
