Sargassum at Gouverneur

We headed over to Gouverneur in the late afternoon today. Sargassum not as bad as we feared. Swimmable for sure at far end of the beach. Ignore the smell as you walk there. It’s not a problem once you get to the end. The trees at entrance are growing back beautifully. Lots of butterflies and flowers on the drive down the hill. My youngest daughter Alexa got some great shots....View attachment 46702 E47E2DFE-B7F8-4507-A128-CF056D37CE79.jpgA2553289-210D-4695-9375-7C106F733367.jpg

I’m glad to hear the situation at Gouverneur improved. When we stopped by about 10-14 days ago, the beach was covered from end to end and rafts of it continued to come in. Two women were hard at work removing it and placing it in dumpsters, but it seemed an insurmountable task. We certainly missed spending time there this year.

It appeared to me that there was evidence of raking or even or even larger machinery used to remove it from the Beach. As most of the sand was clear even though there was still a fair amount in the water at the entrance. Smell didn’t bother us too much as we have a lot of seaweed in San Diego. And it wasn’t terribly strong where we were sitting.
