Goats. Nobody told us about the goats. (And other animals of St. Barths)

The goats are my favorite. Was worried about them after the hurricane. At night, the ground comes alive in some places with hermit crabs...some as big as softballs.

We noticed that the turtles and wild goats are much more people-oriented after the hurricane. Apparently, the lack of the food forces them to move closer to people. For instance in Saline, for years we only saw goat families up and far in the hills. This April, they were down, almost on the beach, looking for food. We didn't try but they probably would allow to feed them. The turtles in Villa Marie and in Mannapany allowed to pet them and almost ate from the hand.

I hope that with the restored vegetation they will go back to be on their own and be afraid of people. That is healthier, IMHO.
