This has probably been previously posted- translated from Swedish- the Society promotes the relationship between the island and Sweden, given the history. This was written back in 1999.
[h=1]Marius Stakelborough[/h][FONT="]Marius started in 1949 on a st. Barth with his wife. There you can eat hamburger of different kinds, you can also buy drinks at a good price. Another bar located next to Le Select has only a few guests in the evenings while Le Select is full. The only day that Marius does not have any guests at his bar is on sundays because then it's closed. Between 7-9 November 1999, Marius Le Selects celebrated her 50th birthday. The hotels on the island were fully booked several months in advance and people from all over the world came to the island to celebrate a bar that had been around for 50 years. There were many famous people there. Among other things, Jimmy Buffet, who is good friend of Marius. It is from his song that "Hamburger in Paradise" comes. Marius has many friends around the world. Many of them are Swedes.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Marius was born on June 5, 1923 in Gustavia. He is grown up with his grandmother and brother in a small house in Gustavia. Marius's mother moved to Guadeloupe after his brother had been born. Marius grew up in a poor home, they were happy if they had food for the day. Sometimes they got money from relatives on other Caribbean islands and from America. When Marius was 7, he started school. It was his father's cousin who had taken the initiative to start a school in Gustavia. Marius went to school until he was 13 years old, then he went to Guadeloupe where his mother lived.
Marius dreamed of becoming a sailor, but his family did not want it, but he became a sailor.The first skipper he boarded was Nina II who went to Martinique, spent many years aboard various cleaners. Marius met her great love the three year younger Hélène Magras in young years but that was when Helene became elected at the age of 21 as they became a couple.Hélène's parents did not think that Marius gave birth to their daughter but she did not listen to them without marrying Marius in 1947. Hélène already had a child before Marius, their first common child, was born in 1948. In 1949, Marius decided to stay on land and be with the family instead of being out at sea, the same year they decided to open a bar on the island, it was going to be the first one. When the bar opened, Marius got work at the island's weather office. Marius worked there for 34 years.[/FONT]

[FONT="]In 1981, Marius Nordstjärne Order was awarded by King Carl XVI Gustav. He got it for his fine work of strengthening the ties between Sweden and St. Petersburg. Barthelemy. Marius values the order very high.
In January 1988 a nice visit to St. Barthélemy from Sweden. It was the Swedish royal family who greeted the little old Swedish colony. They of course greeted Marius and his bar Le Select.
Marius has been in Sweden a dozen times. He has let one of the children accompany each trip. In 1980 his daughter Marie Hélène married a Swedish and lived in Nyköping with his family.
When Marius's wife died in 1984, sorrow was great, at her funeral crowds gathered from all over the island who looked up to Hélène. From all over the world participated, which Marius appreciated very much.
